Connecticut Walk for Apraxia

Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!

I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.

I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.

Please help me meet my fundraising goal by making a donation now or by joining our team.  You, too, can make an impact for children and families affected by apraxia!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.

Summer Updates

Monday 3rd Aug
We have successfully completed the summer challenge, as we have added 5 team members and raised over $500 by July 31st!!

Now we are focused on the finish line...meeting our ultimate goal of $1000 by walk day and a fifth straight year of Champions Club for Zack ! We can get there with your help <3

Working on combatting the summer slide, which I've noticed happens with speech as well...that's why it's important to remember, "childhood" apraxia of speech is a lifelong, misunderstood, and complex disorder, and has no cure. And so here we are, and here we will stay, continuing to spread awareness and to advocate!

Did You Know?

Tuesday 12th May
Apraxia only affects about 1 in 1,000 children, making it not only a very difficult but rare and misunderstood speech disorder. Most people haven't heard of it unless/until it affects someone they know. What about you? If you're here you probably know the charming, energetic, and unstoppable Zack Diaz (Zacky to us) but did you know Childhood Apraxia of Speech also affects some famous people you may know, like Ronda Rousey? That's right, Apraxia stars are tough. And not all children.
