FAQs
We are excited that you will be joining the Walk for Apraxia in your community. Below are some frequently asked questions as you plan for Walk Day. If you do not find the answers you are looking forward, please contact us at apraxiawalk@apraxia-kids.org.
Fundraising & Incentives
Where do I mail a donation for my Walk team?
You can mail this form and a check made payable to Apraxia Kids to:
Apraxia Kids
P.O. Box 899
Wexford, PA 15090
Attn: Walk for Apraxia
Please specify the Walk and Participant/Team you want credited for your donation.
How do I get my t-shirt and other fundraising incentives?
If you raise $50 on or before Walk Day, your shirt MUST be picked up at the event so that you can wear it proudly on Walk Day! Participants who raise $50 after the Walk will be mailed their shirt. All additional fundraising incentive prizes will be awarded and mailed by the end of March, 2027.
Please keep in mind incentive prizes are awarded based on individual fundraising, NOT team fundraising. Contact apraxiawalk@apraxia-kids.org if you need help allocating funds to the correct individual participants.
Is the Walk for Apraxia shirt available for purchase?
The official Walk for Apraxia T-shirt is only given as a token of recognition to registered walkers that raise $50 or more. All registered Apraxia Stars will get their shirts for free!
If I opt out of incentive prizes, will I still receive my Walk shirt?
Yes, you will still receive the official Walk for Apraxia shirt if you raise $50.
What is the difference between individual and team fundraising?
Individual fundraising focuses on one’s personal efforts and is tracked through a participant’s personal fundraising page. This total determines the individual’s eligibility for individual incentive prizes, such as the official Walk t-shirt and a variety of other prizes at different fundraising levels.
Team fundraising focuses on the collective efforts of the team. The sum of all individual members’ totals plus any general donations made directly to the team page contribute to group recognition, such as the Champions or Grand Champions clubs. Donations towards the team do not count toward an individual's incentive prize eligibility.
Walk Day
How long is the route for a Walk for Apraxia event?
Although Walk courses vary by location, our Walk events are typically one mile or less in distance and are accessible to individuals of all abilities.
Can I bring our dog with us to the Walk?
We encourage you to reach out to your local Walk Coordinator as each venue has different rules surrounding animals.
Will there be food and drinks available at the Walk?
Although each Walk event may differ on their day of logistics, all Walks do provide drinks and snacks for participants.
General Information
What is the Walk for Apraxia?
The Walk for Apraxia® is the largest fundraiser of Apraxia Kids supporting children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). We walk in over 60 locations across North America to create a world where every child with apraxia of speech receives the help and care they need.
The Walk celebrates the lives and incredible efforts of our kids (our Apraxia Stars), who work so hard everyday to overcome CAS. Every Apraxia Star attending the Walk is individually recognized for their accomplishments.
What programs and services are provided by Apraxia Kids?
Apraxia Kids is the leading nonprofit that strengthens the support systems in the lives of children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
Apraxia Kids began in 2000 as a virtual support group for parents looking for answers about apraxia, a relatively unknown motor speech disorder. Since that time, Apraxia Kids has grown to be the leading nonprofit in apraxia education that supports children, families, and speech-language professionals worldwide. We encourage you to visit our website to learn about all of the programs and services that we provide.

What will Walk Day be like?
Each of our local Walk for Apraxia events has its own unique elements, but they all follow a similar structure. Walk Day begins with a window of time for registration and check in. Then the day will kick off with a special ceremony recognizing all Apraxia Stars in attendance. Each Apraxia Star will receive a medal and certificate honoring their accomplishments. After that, its time to walk! Everyone in attendance will join together walking as a show of support and to raise awareness in your community.
What makes the Walk for Apraxia truly special is the people. Walk Day is all about celebrating the Apraxia Stars in your community and bringing together their support network to cheer them on!
What if I can’t participate on my scheduled Walk date OR there is not a Walk in my community?
No Problem! You can still register for your local Walk and receive incentives based on your fundraising.
