Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!

I’ll be honest—I’m not a speech therapist or an occupational therapist. I’m the person behind the scenes making sure everyone has what they need to do what they do best. 😂

But after a year as a the Head of Operations at Speakeasy for Kids, I’ve learned something very important:

Communication is everything!

While I may not be the one sitting in therapy sessions, I have the privilege of hearing the stories from our therapists and families—about the hard days, the little breakthroughs, the first sounds, new words, and those moments that mean "so much" to a child and their family.

I’ve learned that what may look like a small milestone to someone else can represent months of hard work, patience, persistence, and hope.

That is why I’m walking for Apraxia.

I’m walking for the kids who have so much to say but need help getting their words to cooperate.

I’m walking for the parents who celebrate every tiny victory.

And I’m walking for our incredible therapists, who bring endless creativity, patience, and approximately 47 different ways to turn hard work into play. 😂

Most importantly, I’m walking because "every child deserves to be heard—and every child has something worth saying."

I’m proud to be part of a team that works every day to help children communicate, connect, and find their voice.

So yes, I’ll be walking. And if you know me, I’ll probably be organizing something while I’m doing it. 😉😂
