Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
We walk for our daughter, Aubree, whose voice is fierce even when words don’t come easy. Aubree has childhood apraxia of speech, which means her brain knows exactly what she wants to say, but getting her mouth to form the sounds takes incredible work and determination. Every “hi,” every new word, every sentence is a victory she’s fought for in speech therapy and at home. We’re participating in the Apraxia Awareness Walk to celebrate Aubree and every kid and adult with apraxia who works twice as hard to be heard. Their voices matter, their stories matter, and we’ll keep walking until awareness, understanding, and support meet them where they are.
