Why we walk for Aubree!
Childhood Apraxia of Speech is a journey our family has been on for many years. We walk for our 11 year old daughter, Aubree. Her voice is fierce even when words don't come easy. CAS is a motor planning disorder; simply put, she knows what she wants to say but the brain has difficulty reaching the mouth and as a result, speech is difficult to understand. Her brain & her body work double time trying to keep up with each other.
She has battled years of speech therapy with such determination and very little frustration. Every "hello", every new word and every sentence is a victory she has fought so hard for.
We are participating in the Wisconsin Walk for Apraxia to celebrate Aubree and every child and adult that has to work twice as hard to be heard. Their voices and stories matter. We will continue to raise awareness and acceptance for everyone!
Join us on Saturday, September 12th for the Wisconsin Walk for Apraxia at Van Lieshout Park in Little Chute!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.
