Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
Welcome to Team Poppy! 💙
We’re walking to support children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), a neurological speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to plan and coordinate the movements needed for speech. Children with apraxia know what they want to say, but getting the words out can be incredibly hard.
My daughter, Poppy, has apraxia, so this cause is deeply personal to our family. When she was younger, communicating was incredibly difficult for her. Thanks to early intervention, intensive speech therapy, and amazing support from skilled speech-language pathologists, she has made incredible progress and is now a thriving, confident, talkative 7-year-old.
We are walking to raise awareness, support families navigating apraxia, and help fund the work of Apraxia Kids — including family support resources, advocacy, professional training for speech-language pathologists, and research focused on improving outcomes for children with apraxia.
Thank you so much for supporting Team Poppy and helping children find their voices. Every donation truly makes a difference.

As someone who struggles with it as a child and now. I remember going to one and feeling happy to found a circle to embrace myself and be proud of myself. Thank you for raising awareness
