Why We Walk: Team Spidey Steps 💙🕷️
As a family, we never imagined how much we would come to celebrate the smallest victories—one sound, one word, one moment of connection at a time. Our son, Zac, has apraxia of speech, and that journey has changed the way we see communication, progress, and perseverance.
Apraxia makes it difficult for Zac to say what he wants, even when he knows exactly what he’s trying to communicate. It’s not about effort—because no one works harder than he does. Every day, he shows us what true determination looks like. Every sound he practices, every word he forms, and every attempt he makes is a step forward.
That’s why our team is called Spidey Steps 🕷️
Zac loves Spiderman, and just like his hero, he shows courage, resilience, and heart every single day. “Spidey Steps” represents not only Zac’s journey toward finding his voice, but also the steps we take as a family—and as a community—to support him and other children like him.
We walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech—our Apraxia Stars ⭐—to remind them and their families that they are not alone. We walk to honor the hard work these kids put in every single day to overcome challenges most people never see.
We also walk with a purpose.
This cause is bigger than just our family. It’s about building stronger support systems, increasing awareness, improving access to quality therapy, and investing in the future of every child with apraxia.
We are incredibly proud of Zac and how hard he works every single day. He inspires us to keep going, to keep advocating, and to keep taking steps—no matter how big or small.
If you’re able, we would be so grateful for your support—whether that’s through a donation, sharing our page, or joining our team.
Together, we can make a difference.
Because we truly believe…
Every child deserves a voice. 💙
