We pledge to show up for Liam—our gentle, loving, and happy soul who brings so much light and joy into our lives. We celebrate his spunky personality, his sweet heart, and his love for all things cars because those are the moments that make him light up.

At the age of five, Liam was diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech. We understand that while Liam knows exactly what he wants to say, his words don’t always come out the way he intends. We recognize that communication takes extra patience, time, and support—and we commit to giving him that.
We pledge to be patient.
We pledge to listen.
We pledge to understand.
We pledge to stand beside him through every challenge, especially in the moments when frustration arises, and to remind him that he is never alone in this.
We pledge to celebrate every milestone because Liam has fought through so many odds, and every bit of progress is hard-earned, meaningful, and worth recognizing.

We pledge to always advocate for children like Liam—because every voice matters. Every voice deserves to be heard. Communication comes in many different forms, and all of them deserve to be accepted and valued.
Through this experience, we’ve learned how difficult it can be to access the right support. The system can be overwhelming and, at times, frustrating. But we’ve also found incredible resources and people who have supported us along the way.
That is why we created The Second Voice—to help other families navigate this journey, share knowledge, and advocate for children like Liam who deserve to be heard, understood, and supported.
