Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
Our family walks to show unwavering love and support for our Abby. She moves through the world in a special way, bringing us along for the ride. Her progress in communication has come from the use of an AAC (a tablet with words and keyboard designed specifically for her). She has also made small strides in verbal communication but this comes with hard work and loads of repetition. Apraxia of speech affects her ability to connect with others on every imaginable level. We walk to show her and others with apraxia that their lights make this world brighter. We support them as they radiate perseverance and teach us all how to see some things more clearly.I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
