Tampa Walk for Apraxia

Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!

My nephew, Callan, is 4 years old and has apraxia of speech.

At an age when so many children can easily tell you what they’re thinking, what they want, what happened at school, or what they’re excited about, communicating doesn’t come as easily for Callan. He doesn’t communicate the way most 4 year olds do, and something as simple as finding the words to express himself can take an incredible amount of work.

For years, Callan has been going to speech therapy and working hard to overcome the challenges that come with apraxia. I’ve watched his language improve as he continues to find his own ways to communicate.

And that’s why I’m walking.

I’m walking for Callan, and for every child diagnosed with apraxia of speech. I’m walking for our Apraxia Stars, to remind them that they are not alone and to recognize just how hard they work every single day to be heard and understood.

I’m also walking to raise funds for Apraxia Kids, an organization dedicated to strengthening the support systems around children with apraxia and their families through education, community outreach, advocacy, and research.

I believe every child deserves a voice.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation to support my fundraising goal. Your donation can help provide resources, education, research, and support to children like Callan and the families who love them.

Please donate, join our team, or simply share this post to help us spread awareness. Every bit of support makes a difference.
