Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
I walk to support all children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), but especially for my shining star, Kalynn who was diagnosed at just 32 months old.
Her journey began when she was only 15 months old. What started as developmental concerns and co-occurring disorders quickly led us down a long road filled with appointments, testing, uncertainty, and frightening possibilities. As a parent, there were moments of fear and heartbreak, but also moments that taught me the importance of advocacy, persistence, and hope.
When answers did not come easily, I learned I had to become her voice and her fiercest advocate — fighting for evaluations, therapies, services, and the support she deserved. Every small victory has been hard-earned, and every word spoken is a celebration.
We walk not only for my daughter, but for every child and family navigating the challenges of Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Your support helps raise awareness, provide resources, and remind families like ours that they are not alone on this journey.
