     I'm writing you on behalf of my daughter Josie Robertson. Josie is 12 years old.Josie is going Sixth Grade at Musselman Middle School.Josie loves going to 4-H where is a member of the Southern Cross club. Josie loves her rabbit Laci.Josie has a big heart for all animals.4-H has help with her public speaking.She loves going to the local dirt track and pulling for number 27 (Trever Feathers).Josie loves going to Church

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a speech disorder that seriously interferes with a child’s ability to develop clear speech. CAS makes it difficult or impossible for an affected child to plan the movements of the lips,tongue,jaw etc. that are needed for speech.

 Children with CAS generally have a good understanding of language-they know what to say-but have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex movements that underline speech. Apraxia is one the most severe of childhood speech and communication disorders.

 I want to bring awareness to our community about this speech problem in children because it is still little known., very misunderstood and has huge impact on kids and families like mine. Speech and communication are critical skills for young children with apraxia and their families because speech therapy, the only proven treatment for apraxia, is quit costly and will extent over many years for these children. These children must work and struggle so very hard just to learn a skill-speaking-that comes effortlessly to other children.

 Apraxia impacts my everyday life due to my daughter Josie having Apraxia. She is a very loving and caring little girl. On behalf of all the kids fighting for there Voice.
