Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.
Please help me meet my fundraising goal by making a donation now or by joining our team. You, too, can make an impact for children and families affected by apraxia!
I believe, “Every child deserves a voice”.

Childhood Apraxia of Speech
Monday 8th Jun Did you know we were told in graduate school that apraxia is so rare that we would likely never see it in our lifetime as clinicians!? Through advanced training and self-education, I have since learned that is simply not the case! I see my role as not only helping our kids improve their communication but also increasing CAS awareness in others (including other SLPs) to get these kids making progress. If a child has made minimal progress with their speech sound production skills despite having skilled intervention, it’s time to consider CAS!
Tell your SLP to contact me if they want to learn more on how they can change their approach and I can direct them. The training is easily accessible and it’s free :)
