Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.

Friday 18th SepThis year’s Apraxia Walk means more to our family than words can express.
CAS isn’t just about learning to talk. It’s about the incredible determination it takes to make every sound, every word, and every sentence happen. While many children speak effortlessly, children with CAS have to consciously plan and practice movements that others never have to think about.
There was a time when we didn’t know what her voice would sound like. Amelia has spent countless hours in speech therapy, practicing at home, and celebrating the wins and pushing through the difficult moments. She has shown us a level of determination and resilience that amazes us every day. As her mom, I will treasure the sound of her voice forever; the questions she asks, the stories she tells, and every new word she works so hard to say. The moments that many people may take for granted are moments we hold close to our hearts because we know just how much work went into each one. Over the past year, we’ve watched Amelia grow, become more confident, and find her voice in ways we once only hoped for.
We couldn’t be more proud of you, Amelia. Today, we walk to celebrate you, to raise awareness for all children with CAS, and to remind everyone that every small victory is worth celebrating.
To our sweet girl: your voice is growing stronger every day, and so is your confidence. We love you and are endlessly proud of you.
