South Carolina Walk for Apraxia

Joining Connor’s Crew: Helping Our Little Hero Find His Big Voice!

At 2.5 years old, Connor is already a superhero. He has the "Hulk Smash" down pat, he can out-climb Spiderman on the playground, and he never misses a chance to dance when his favorite songs come on. But Connor is fighting a hidden villain every single day: Apraxia.

While most toddlers are starting to tell stories, Connor’s words are locked behind a wall. He babbles with so much intent, his eyes telling us exactly what he’s thinking, but the "super-connection" between his brain and his mouth isn't quite there yet. He is so proud to shout out a clear "Dada," but he has yet to turn an "ahh" into a "Mama." For a kid who wants to tell us everything, those single syllables are a major battle.

We are walking to make sure that by the time he’s 3, 4, and 5, Connor has the tools he needs to speak up and tell us all about his adventures.

The Crew: Led by his biggest fans... Mom (Heather), Dad (Bryan), and Big Brother (Camden)... we are hitting the pavement! Connor will be leading the way in his "Hero-Mobile" (a fully decked-out superhero wagon) and walking as much as his little legs will carry him.

Please join Connor’s Crew! Your donation helps provide the speech therapy and research that will one day help Connor and children like him say the words we’re all waiting to hear.
