Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
I walk to support all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech - our Apraxia Stars. To show these children they are not alone and to acknowledge all the hard work they must do to overcome communication challenges that affect their day-to-day lives.I walk to raise funds for the mission of Apraxia Kids – to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech by educating professionals and families; facilitating community engagement and outreach; and investing in the future through advocacy and research.

Why I Walk for Apraxia Kids
Tuesday 5th MayI walk because my child has apraxia of speech. This is not something distant to me. It is part of our everyday life. I have seen what it takes for a child to fight for every word, to try again and again until something finally comes out the way it was meant to.
This is not a quick process. It takes years for these children to go from nonverbal, to struggling to form words, to speaking with effort and occasional setbacks. Progress happens, but it is hard earned. Apraxia does not simply disappear. It is something they learn to work through, every single day.
I walk for my child and for every child on this path. For the long hours in therapy. For the small victories that most people would overlook but mean everything to a family living this. For the resilience these children show in a world that does not always understand what they are facing.
I walk to support the mission of Apraxia Kids. Their work provides education, advocacy, and resources that families like mine rely on. They help create access to the support these children need to keep moving forward.
I walk because awareness matters. Support matters. No child should have to fight this hard without a strong system behind them.
