Making Magic for Madeline

Cedar Rapids Walk for Apraxia

Why we walk for Apraxia Kids and Make Magic for Madeline

Why We Walk

Our team walks for Madeline, and for every child working hard to find their voice.

Madeline was diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech just before her second birthday. What followed were years of early intervention, speech therapy multiple times a week, incredible specialists, and a lot of hard work.

This year, Madeline graduated from speech therapy.

Today, she is thriving in a typical classroom, communicating with her teachers and friends, and progressing right alongside her peers. We are incredibly proud of her and deeply grateful for the early intervention, providers, resources, and support that helped her get here.

When Madeline was first diagnosed, Apraxia Kids was one of the most important resources our family had. It gave us information when we had questions, support when we were navigating something completely new, and a connection to a community that understood what our family was experiencing.

Now, we walk to help make sure other families have that same support.

Every dollar our team raises helps Apraxia Kids provide education, resources, advocacy, and community for children with apraxia and the families who love them.

We walk because we know what early support can make possible.

We walk because every child deserves to be heard.

And, of course, we walk for Madeline.
