Why we walk for Apraxia Kids!
We walk to support Tate and all children diagnosed with apraxia of speech. Apraxia is a disconnect between the brain and motor function of the mouth. Meaning, children with apraxia know what they want to say, but struggle to verbalize those words. Think about how frustrating it must be to live your life, knowing everything someone says to you. Knowing the answer or how you want to respond, but when you go to speak, it comes out a jumbled mess.Kids with Apraxia have to work so incredibly hard just to speak a simple word such a "Mama". My goal is create awareness around Apraxia and help raise money to provide resources and educational opportunities for parents and professionals.
Help us achieve our goal and give families like ours the resources we need to provide our kids the best opportunities. Tate is the sweetest, most beautiful boy you'll ever meet, but I know he is terribly misunderstood and, at times treated different because of his speech. I pray that one day we will look back and know all of his hard work and many, many days of therapy were all worth it. Every child/person deserves a voice and we believe Tate will one day have his. Anything you give is truly appreciated.
