We Walk For Maddox! Join us to Walk for Apraxia Saturday Oct 3 in Cedar Rapids.

We walk for our son, Maddox, and for every child working so hard to find their voice.

Maddox has been diagnosed with Childhood Apraxia of Speech, which means that while he knows exactly what he wants to say, getting those words out can be incredibly difficult! Things that come naturally to so many of us require an incredible amount of practice, patience, and determination from him. Watching how hard he works to communicate has given us an entirely new appreciation for something most of us never have to think twice about...being understood.

But apraxia is only one small part of who Maddox is. He is incredibly funny, smart, often ornery, and so, so sweet. He loves Pokémon and Spider-Man, and he always keeps us laughing. He knows exactly what he wants and has so much to say & we want the world to hear!

We are also incredibly thankful for his SLP, Ms. Lindsay, who works alongside Maddox to help him find his voice. She celebrates his progress, meets him where he is, and gives him the tools and confidence to keep working toward those words. Having someone in his corner who believes in him means more to our family than we can say.

We walk to celebrate Maddox and all of the amazing Apraxia Stars who work so hard every day to communicate. We walk so they know they are not alone, and to support the families, SLPs, teachers, and professionals cheering them on along the way.

Every child deserves a voice, and we are so proud to walk for Maddox while helping make a difference for every child affected by apraxia.
