Makkie’s Mighty Voice

DC Walk for Apraxia

Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!

Makkie is our sweet, funny, determined little girl with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She has Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for her brain to tell her mouth how to form words. Even though she knows exactly what she wants to say, getting the words out can be incredibly challenging.

Every word Makkie says is the result of hard work, determination, and countless hours of speech therapy. She faces challenges every day with courage and resilience, reminding us that every voice deserves to be heard.

We’re walking to raise awareness for Childhood Apraxia of Speech, support research, and help other families navigating this journey. Most importantly, we’re walking for Makkie—to celebrate how far she’s come, honor all the hard work she puts in every day, and show her that she has a whole team cheering her on.

Thank you for supporting Team Makkie and helping us give every child with apraxia a voice!
