Why I walk for Apraxia Kids!
In 2024, at just 2½ years old, my son Liam was diagnosed with severe Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Since then, he has worked incredibly hard with his speech-language pathologists, both in private therapy and with his school therapist during the school year.
Everyone who has been part of Liam's journey has been amazed by the progress he has made. Thanks to his determination and the incredible support of his therapists, Liam has made so much progress that he has gone from a diagnosis of severe Childhood Apraxia of Speech to moderate Childhood Apraxia of Speech—a milestone we are so proud of.
When we first learned of Liam's diagnosis, we were scared and uncertain about what the future would hold because we had never even heard of Childhood Apraxia of Speech before.
Today, we have hope because we've seen firsthand how life-changing the right therapy and support can be. We want every child with Childhood Apraxia of Speech to have the same opportunity—to find and use their voice.
