I am racing for Hudson and all of the other individuals diagnosed with CAS.
The 5K Voice Venture is a personal challenge and a virtual race taking place in a location of my choice - on a treadmill, in a park, in my neighborhood, or wherever I feel is the safest - in honor of individuals diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech.I joined the Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture because I believe every child deserves a voice. I pledge to reach a racing goal by running, jogging, or walking in the 5K Voice Venture to raise funds for Apraxia Kids and to spread awareness about childhood apraxia of speech.
WHAT IS CHILDHOOD APRAXIA OF SPEECH? Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech.
