I am racing for Apraxia Kids!

The 5K Voice Venture is a personal challenge and a virtual race taking place in a location of my choice - on a treadmill, in a park, in my neighborhood, or wherever I feel is the safest - in honor of individuals diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech.

I joined the Apraxia Kids 5K Voice Venture because I believe every child deserves a voice.  I pledge to reach a racing goal by running, jogging, or walking in the 5K Voice Venture to raise funds for Apraxia Kids and to spread awareness about childhood apraxia of speech.

WHAT IS CHILDHOOD APRAXIA OF SPEECH?  Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with the diagnosis of apraxia of speech generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say. However, they have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech.

Hi all. I figured I'd tell you that I'm doing this for my neighbor boy. He's so sweet and special and just melts my ❤️.  I did this last year for him and plan to continue to do so in his honor.  He's such a joy and in the few years I've known him he's come a long way in his speech and talking. I hope if you can spare a few bucks he'd appreciate it. It really is a great cause
